Bob Austin
Bob Austin - Unit 240
Who I Am
I am a native Californian, son of a Navy captain, veteran of the Vietnam era, and a retired technology executive. A few of my interests are skiing, hiking, and kayaking, all of which I can do in the great North Tahoe area.
Why Kingswood Village
I dreamed of having my own place in the mountains since I was a youngster. The opportunity came in 2011 and my spouse, Cindy, and I bought #240 at Kingswood Village. My family, including children and grandchildren, enjoy the Kingswood community immensely. There’s nothing like it anywhere else.
Giving Back
We are a self-managed HOA, where owners volunteer their time in supporting HOA operations. I served as treasurer for 2 terms, and a member of several committees. Today, I am the Board Secretary, chairperson of the Financial Oversight and Hiring Committees and a member of the Wildfire Prevention Committee. I am particularly proud of leading the effort in returning Kingswood to democratic voting and my contribution in navigating the organization and staffing challenges brought on by the pandemic. With our current Superintendent and his team, we are well positioned for the future. The campus has never looked better. And I especially enjoy seeing the sense of community that continues to grow within Kingswood Village.
Today’s Challenges at Kingswood Village
We have made solid progress on the below issues and need to continue our focus on them over the next year:
· Wildfire Prevention - Continue defensible space work and home hardening.
· Insurance - Work with insurance brokers and fire agencies to lower costs and expand coverage.
· Campus Beatification and Restoration - Support our Superintendent and his team in bringing our 50+ year old campus up to expectations.
· Short Term Rentals (STRs) - work with homeowners and Placer County authorities to manage the growing challenges of STRs.
My Commitment
My commitment to you, as a member of the Board, is to meet the above challenges and continue supporting our staff and homeowners.
I ask for your vote.
Respectfully,
Bob Austin #240
